ARBROATH MAKE IT 7 IN A ROW

A couple of new players were in the starting line up on Saturday. Cammy Bell signed on loan from Kilmarnock & Docherty on the left wing, signed from Weir's former team St Johnstone. Also on the bench were new striker John Baird. After Neil Stephen's inspired hat trick against Stenny with Michie & the now departed Stephen Black chipping in a goal a piece the expectations were high for Saturday's visit of Arbroath.

A mix up in the home defence saw Reilly nip in and lob the ball over Bell in the home goal. Willie Martin had 2 good chances in the first half with Montrose's only real chance falling to Andy Rodgers who couldn't wrap his foot around the ball from a few yards out.

The 2nd half didn't see much difference for Montrose, they continued to play the long ball with no real target man up front. So Arbroath won at a canter. The only black spot being Kevin Webster falling over after a playful tap from Gibson after the former had been kicking at his heels. Webster duly got a pile of abuse for his efforts and reports are he was crying as he headed for the changing rooms.

News of former player Martin Wood has reached here with him signing for Highland League team Keith. If ever there was a case of wasted talent that is it.
