With the turbulent times behind the club the players got on with what they do best. Racking up goals and points and sending the Links Park faithful home full of hope with what might lay ahead in the coming season. Firstly Sunday the 3rd of Septemeber saw Albion Rovers visit Links Park and with no Wolecki on the bench the gossip was rife amongst supporters what was amiss.

The team started slowly and looked asluggish with incomplete passes and suchlike. After half time though Montrose came in to the game in a big way. Rodgers, who reminds you of a Duracell bunny as he is going to run all afternoon, scoring his first and second of the league campaign from the spot. The first penalty came abput after some silky play from the rejuvenated Michie, He went past 3 defenders and was closing in on goal before being taken out in the box. The second was sheer persistance from Rodgers chasing a pass back the keeper pushed Rodgers away from the ball, yet stayed on the park and he was happy enough to show twice how to take penalties, Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller might want to take note.

The on Monday the news broke that Eddie had left the club and in all honesty for the good of the club one of the co-managers had to do it. The players now have one point of contact and it can only be a good thing.

On Saturday Dave Baikie brought his table topping East Fife to town. Baikie has stuck with his junior know how and built a big physical team. On the day however Montrose were the better team.

After some early pressure from the visitors, Montrose took the lead with Rodgers skinning the defence before crossing over to Michie who had an easy tap in. In the second half Michie wasted a couple more chances before deep in to injury time a header from East fife was destined for the net before Andy Reid pulled out a great save.

So we are 3 points behind East Fife this league, apart from Elgin, look as if anybody can beat anybody on the day. has it shaping up to be a great season ahead. Providing we can keep key men fit and players like Tawse, who has taken to the senior game like a duck to water, continue to progress I can see Montrose be there or there abouts come May 2007
