Glantraeth Get Welsh Cup Reprieve

Out of the Cup

Cymru Alliance giantkillers, CPD Glantraeth have been re-instated in the Welsh Cup after Welshpool fielded an ineligible player in their 4th round clash. Glantraeth will now face Welsh Premier leaders, T.N.S. at Treflan in the Quarter Finals. Welshpool needed extra time to beat Glantraeth 3-2 at Maes-y-Dre but by fielding the ineligible Gareth Barton thye were in breach of Welsh Cup regulations, meaning an automatic disqualification and a reprieve for the team they had defeated.

Glantraeth's re-instatement will mean they will be the only non-Welsh Premier club in the Quarter Finals when they face T.N.S. The Anglesey outfit have already knocked local rivals Bangor City out of the Cup on penalties but will need to pull off an even bigger shock if they are to progress even further, against the full timers of Llansantffraid.
