Bangor council have approved the development of an Asda store on Farrar Road, freeing Bangor City to move to a new stadium at Nantporth overlooking the Menai Straits. Asda had been under competition from rival supermarket chain Tesco who already have a store on the outskirts of Bangor, but with Tesco being granted permission to expand their current store, the planning authorities decided to give Asda the green light.

It has not yet been confirmed how long it will be before work begins at the new Nantporth site
