Richard Taylor reviews today's Welsh Premier clash between Afan Lido and Porthmadog from the Runtech Stadium. Lido gained their first 3 points of the season courtesy of an early Kevin Bartley strike, condemning Port' to their first defeat of the season. CARLOS EDWARDS

These were the three points that we should have taken back from Newtown, belated but better late than never.

Kevin Bartley's seventh minute goal, a neat shot past goalkeeper McGuigan, was all that separated the two teams in the end.

A poor game for the neutral spectator, confined to a midfield struggle for much of the first half and a long-ball battle for the second. Lido deserved the three points; Porthmadog played some good football at times but they never really threatened to break through the Lido lines.

Lido always looked the more threatening on the attack but very few chances were created at either end, making a 1-0 scoreline a fair reflection on a difficult match.

Lido are home to Carmarthen in the First Round of the League Cup on Tuesday evening.
