Welsh Premier champions Barry Town have been rocked by the departure of two influential players.

Left back Gary Lloyd (left) and midfielder/striker Jon French (right) are to leave the Dragons after refusing to take a cut in wages to stay at Jenner Park.

Lloyd (left), 31, is a former Wales 'B' and semi-pro international and has spent nearly a decade with the record breaking Welsh Premier champions. Lloyd refused to accept a substantial cut in wages when offered a new contract during the Spring. "It will hurt me to leave but the club have cut my wages and I cannot accept the new terms." said Lloyd. "I have had some fantastic times at Barry, and wish the manager, players and supporters the very best for the future, and thank them for their support." Lloyd looks set to join Dr Martens Premier exiles Newport County.

Jon French (right), 26, is the second departure from Jenner Park. The club captain, formerly of Bristol Rovers and Hull joined the Dragons in the summer of 2000, making his debut away to Boavista in the UEFA Cup. It is uncertain where French will be playing next season, but after being influential in the club's 'treble double' it seems unlikely he will struggle to find a new club.

Meanwhile, further bad news could be just around the corner, with experienced striker Jamie Moralee (left) reportedly a target for Conference club Forest Green. However, with the ex-Millwall star under contract for a further year it seems unlikely the Conference minnows will be able to afford a transfer fee or his wage demands.
