FAW council member Phil Jones has resigned from his role on the Welsh Premier board of directors following the rumpus, which began at the league's AGM a week last Saturday. League Chairman, Iwan Jones said he would call for urgent talks with the FAW to sort out the ongoing feud. 

The catalyst of the row was the FAW's use of their 'goldenshare' against Welshpool and, their plans to streamline the league over the next few seasons. Welshpool's relegation reprieve had been backed by 15 of the 17 league clubs at their appeal meeting, but the FAW used their power to veto this move, much to the annoyance of most club chiefs. At the start of the season it was decided that two clubs would be relegated regardless of how many sides were promoted. With only CPD Porthmadog being promoted, Welshpool were hopeful that they would be given a reprieve - just one season after successfully appealing to win promotion to the league. 

However, with TNS and Oswestry merging the FAW are adamant that the league runs with just 16 clubs next season, meaning Welshpool being relegated to the Cymru Alliance. They are set to appeal this decision.

Jones admitted "There is a feeling of militancy amongst some clubs because they feel very strongly about this. They are adamant the FAW were wrong to use their golden share over the Welshpool issue. We have told them to be sensible and try to come up with a suitable way forward.
