Newtown have confirmed that their new manager is ex-Wrexham, Shrewsbury and Chester midfielder, Roger Preece. 

Roger has gained valuable coaching experience at both Shrewsbury and Telford United in recent seasons, and will be focusing on developing and introducing the club's youngsters into the first team, is the way ahead for the Mid-Wales club. He is Currently working towards his UEFA A coaching licence at Lilleshall, whilst preparing for what will be his first senior management job, although he has experience as assistant to Jake King at Telford.

www.newtownafc.co.uk have announced that Preece will commence his appointment on July 1st, following in the footsteps of his predecessor Brian Coyne, who spent 12 season at Latham Park. The club said 'Preece is well-known throughout professional circles and his reputation for honest hard work, organisation and discipline will be invaluable as Newtown Football Club moves forward to re-establishing itself as the top club in Mid-Wales'

In an interview with the Shropshire Star, the former midfield hardman said "I will be continuing my coaching work at SCAT (Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology) next season but I'll also be looking to channel as much energy into making Newtown as successful as possible. My first task will be to get all the players together and tell them of my plans. Everyone will get a fair chance in pre-season. I know a couple of managers in the league, so it has helped give me a good insight. It's going to be a big, big challenge but it's one I'm looking forward to."
