A second half clumsy challenge left hanlon on the ground, and had to be stretchered off. He only came on at half time and only played 25 minutes before the incident happened.
Many worried faces on the players, and officials when Hanlon was carried off in the game, that ended in a stalemate, as neither side scored. Brian Talbot left out Billy Turley, Paul Underwood, Onandi Lowe, and Andy Burgess from the squad, but he played many of the other first team players, from last season.
McElhatton started the game, along with Duane Darby. Both were substituted at half time. McElhatton seemed happy enough with his fitness, while Darby had his ankle back in a support realising he's not 100% yet, although when i spoke to him, was confident of being fit for the start of the season.
The trialists, ex Man city's Fitzroy Simpson, and ex Scunthorpe's Brian Quailey impressed, in a performance that saw them link up in play regularly. Adam Sollitt looked good too, in goal, when he was called to make a few saves, and he organised the defence well.
