Michael Ricketts has handed in a transfer request

Bolton have accepted Michael Ricketts' transfer request - paving the way for the striker to join Spurs. This gives them 11 days to organise terms. A Wanderers spokesman said: "We are very disappointed that Michael has decided to take this course of action, particularly after all the hard work we have invested in him since his arrival from Walsall.

"However, if a player is adamant in his desire to leave the club, then providing we get an offer that reflects his true value, we will not stand in his way."

Rickett's future has been under the spotlight since the transfer window re-opened on New Year's Day.

The former England man, 24, joined Bolton for £400,000 in 2000.
