We are now in the final week of the transfer window and as usual Tottenham are a main topic for transfer speculation. This is basically what most of the transfer talk is when involving our great club, ‘speculation’! This is basically what most of the transfer talk is when involving our great club ‘speculation’! How many times has a transfer link to a player actually come to anything over the last decade? Tottenham seem to be an easy target for the gutter press on a slow news day.

Today we are being linked with Ben Arfa and the story goes… Spurs have been tracking the highly rated youngster for some time now and it appears Lyon could be prepared to allow him to leave after comments made by the club's chairman Jean-Michel Aulas:
"I saw the leaders of Tottenham are pressing hard to sign Hatem, It is necessary that we discuss it."
Arfa has told Lyon that he wants to leave after falling out of favour with manager Gerrard Houllier and wouldn't be the first winger to join Spurs after doing so following in the footsteps of David Ginola who so famously fell out with Houllier during his time as French national coach.
Today also see’s the return of the Baptista link……

The Guardian says Tottenham have lined up a deal for the Brazilian from which Real Madrid would expect to net £12.85m.
Baptista is opposed to the move and though he has been told he is unlikely to play many games for the Spanish club this season, he would prefer to remain and fight for a place than to transfer to White Hart Lane.
"I have said 300 times that I don't want to leave Madrid," he said.
Baptista earns marginally more than £20,000 per week after tax, which if Spurs matched it, would make him among the highest earners at the north London club.
And the Downing link refuses to go away today…..I would love to see Downing at WHL however I really cannot see Boro letting him go…He is playing well at the moment and coupled with Southgate's comments that Downing is an integral part of Boro’s plans, would Southgate really want to backtrack on this so early in his managerial career?
Will Tottenham want to pay Boro’s valuation or would Boro really want to let Downing go for the amount that Tottenham want to pay! Time will tell on that one.

All the above could be drivel and we will not know for sure until we read it or it is quoted from the Official Tottenham site.

Everton on Saturday and their season has started reasonably well (winning one a drawing one) We have had good results against Everton over the last couple of seasons but Everton are the type of team that are difficult to predict how we will do against….I will stick my head on the block and predict a 2-1 win for us but will be nervous until the final whistle.
