Northwood centre-forward Scott Fitzgerald featured for Rangers' reserves as they drew 1-1 against Southend United on Tuesday evening. Fitzgerald went close close to scoring early in the second-half, when his right-footed effort was saved by Shrimpers goalkeeper Daniel Gray.

Stuart Thurgood gave Southend the lead, but young winger David Booles pounced on Dave Wattley's 82nd-minute cross to earn a draw for Tim Breacker's side.

Karl Connolly started the game as part of his comeback from a knee injury but lasted only 28 minutes.
