Following circumspect beginnings in a 148-run stand for the second wicket with Owais Shah, Weston displayed increased aggression in getting to three figures.

His half-century arrived from 99 balls shortly after lunch when he drove a ninth four, through the covers.

Having got to 50, Weston opened up and it took only a further 64 deliveries to reach his hundred, including another six, swept over square leg off left-arm spinner Ray Price.

Shah hit 68 - the fourth time this season he has fallen between 50 and 100 this season - when he scooped a pull from a Travis Friend bouncer to square leg.
