Stags V Swans: Preview

Swansea City Caretaker Manager, Alan Curtis faces a daunting task tonight when he takes the Swans to 7th placed Mansfield Town.  To make things even more complicated for Curtis he will be without top-scorer Lee Trundle and the in-form Kevin Nugent.

The game is arguably our biggest league encounter of the season so far, with the possibility of closing the gap on the play-offs to just two points.

It is a re-arranged fixture after the earlier game on 31st January fell foul to the freezing conditions at Field Mill.

Alan Curtis has a striker crisis ahead of the game with Paul Connor being the one senior striker available to him.

Lee Trundle is hoping to be back for the weekend trip to Huddersfield after aggravating his hamstring injury in his 29 minute substitute appearance against Scunthorpe on Saturday.

Kevin Nugent is also struggling with a hamstring injury which was picked up in training yesterday.  The former Cardiff striker has scored in 2 of his last 3 games.

In all, Curtis has just 15 senior professionals available to him with youth team striker Mark Pritchard making up the 16 man squad.

"The team more or less picks itself to be honest,"  said Curtis.

"We've only got 15 fit senior professionals, and that's including Kris O'Leary and Karl Connolly who could really do with a couple of games in the reserves having been out for a few weeks."

Kick-off tonight is at 7:45pm.  Live radio commentary is on Swansea Sound (1170MW).  Major updates will be given on the message board.
