With Cheltenham out of action due to International call ups I assess whether it was a good weekend for the Robins by analysing are relegation rivals results. Bottom of the table Huddersfield Town were sunk by a last minute winner by Notts County’s Mark Stallard as the Terriers went down 3-2 away from home , Notts County now appear to be safe on 48 points – 8 points above Cheltenham – whereas Huddersfield Town are now bottom, 3 points behind having played 1 game more.

2 of are relegation rivals were up against each other, Mansfield and Peterborough faced each other at Field Mill and Posh ran out easy winners 5-1. This result leaves Mansfield level on points with Cheltenham having played a game more but below us on goal difference and Peterborough 3 places and 3 points above us having played the same amount of games (39).

Another good result for us was the game between Brentford and Northampton Town which saw the Bees run out easy 3-0 winners, all the goals came in the 2nd half. This result leaves the Cobblers 2 points and 2 places below the Robins having played 1 game more.

Although Stockport put in a good performance away to high flying Crewe a 77th minute goal from Rodney Jack was enough to send Carlton Palmers men home empty handed. Stockport now only lie 1 place and 2 points ahead of Cheltenham but have crucially played a game more, Stockport are certainly on a downward spiral of results of late and a possible team we could catch.

The team we last beat Port Vale picked up a valuable point away at promotion chasing Oldham, Mark Cummings cancelling out David Eyres opener at Boundary Park. That point leaves Vale 2 places and 3 points above Cheltenham having played a game more, how crucial could the victory at Vale Park earlier this month be?

Chesterfield continued there bad run with a 2-1 away defeat to Tranmere Rovers, having been miles ahead of the Robins at the start of the year they now find themselves only 6 points ahead having played a game more, there good start to the season may just be enough to save them from the drop.

A final good result for Cheltenham was at Ashton Gate where Bristol City beat Barnsley by 2 goals to 1, as Chesterfield the Tykes are 6 points ahead of us having played 1 extra games although I think Barnsley will be good enough to picvk up 4 or 5 points in there final 6 games to be safe.

So all in all a good weekend for Cheltenham with only one of are relegation rivals picking up maximum points, that being Peterborough winning away at Mansfield .
