Kimi: A done deal?

Numerous sources have reported during the week on how abosolutely certain it looks that Kimi Raikkonen will ditch McLaren-Mercedes in favour of Ferrari in 2007.

There have been reports in the past few months saying that Kimi will not stay at McLaren for the sole reason that he will not want to race alongside Fernando Alonso at the team.

Then they switched focus to Michael Schumacher, stating that the Finn will not race alongside the 7 times World Champion. Kimi has reportedly denied this in the Ilta-Sanomat newspaper: "What Schumacher does has no influence on my future."

Perhaps the more worrying part of the report is where the newspaper quoted Raikkonen as saying "I'm not a Ferrari driver, not yet."

So is it a done deal? Well, if you believe the newspapers... I guess this is a classic case of 'wait and see.'

Of course, nothing has yet been confirmed except Fernando Alonso is at McLaren in 2007 and Felipe Massa is only on a one-year deal for 2006 at Ferrari. It's not over yet.
