On a strange day where we saw slow 2002 re-badged Arrows on the Barcelona track, McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen set a lap which was second fastest only to Mark Webber's Williams.

The Australian posted his fastest lap time in the morning whilst the weather was dry and sunny. His team mate, however, was slowest of the seven runners, with a lap 20 seconds off the pace. His run was though, in the afternoon, when the weather turned grim, leaving for a wet track.

Finn Kimi Rakkonen's second fastest time was just under a tenth slower than Webber, however team mate Juan Pablo Montoya was fifth, only managing to complete 22 laps as the Columbian suffered from a gearbox problem.

Red Bull's Robert Doornbos set the third fastest time, whilst Midland driver Tiago Montiero was possibly the surprise of the day going fifth, only 3 tenths behind the RBR tester. 

The sixth fastest car was the Arrows A23, sorry Super Aguri SA05 piloted by Takuma Sato. The Japanese driver only completed 8 laps and set a 1m30.244 before stopping on track.
