The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes formula one team have completed the third and final day of testing at the Jerez circuit in Southern Spain. The teams two race drivers were testing today, Lewis Hamilton ended the day in 2nd place, three tenths shy of Timo Clocks pace setting time, while his team mate, Heikki Kovalainen ended the day in 6th position.

Toyota’s new driver Timo Clock has set the fastest time on the third and final day of testing at the Jerez circuit in Southern Spain. The 25 year old German driver, who first made his F1 debut back in 2004 with Jordan, lapped three tenths of a second faster than McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who spun off two times, once in the morning and another time in the afternoon. Despite this, Lewis completed 73 laps of the 4.42KM circuit.

Finishing the day with the third fastest time was ex McLaren driver Fernando Alonso, who set the fastest time yesterday in Renaults R27. Four times Champ car champion, Sebastian Bourdais, completed a solid day of testing, the Frenchman was just 0.7 seconds slower than pacesetter Timo Clock, who was testing Toyotas new TF108.

Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa, ended the day in 5th position after completing 85 tours of the Spanish circuit in Ferrari’s F2008. Behind Massa in 5th was Finish superstar, Heikki Kovalainen, who completed 79 laps in the new MP4-23, which as of today hasn’t shown any major problems.

David Coulthard tested Red Bulls title challenger, the RB4 but ended the day with an engine failure.
