In last weeks test, the McLaren formula one team ran a very unusual four wingmirrors, but don't worry, there is logic behind this.
Podium finisher Lewis Hamilton sported an extra pair of wing mirrors in last weeks test. Much to our annoyance, it wasn't so once we pass Kimi, we can get a good view of his engine expiring in Malaysia, unfortunately its more to do with our reliability, than fun and games watching a Ferrari engine go KABOOM!.
So, that rules out the more... believable theory of Lewis wanting a better view of the cars behind him, possibly to add to McLaren's evidence that BMW are using flexing floors, but that's a different matter.
Over the past years, Mercedes engines haven't been bomb proof, and therefore have been blowing up, in spectacular style, Bahrain 2004 anyone?
McLaren want a good look at the rear of the car in Malaysia so they can see if their engines going to explode, so they can get a better view to see why, this explains why there's camera's in them, possibly so the engine people can see why the engine exploded in the hot temperatures.
This then is bad news, as this hints that Mercedes motor sport director Norbert Haug isn't happy with the Mercedes engine, and isn't 100% sure whether it will last. Although... exploding engine's aren't McLaren's only concern. In the mist of finding things illegal with other peoples cars, and suing their fans, they've forgotten to sort out that oil leak, that plauged McLaren's running on both thursday and friday's testing days. Oh what fun the next race is going to be.
