March 28 2007

The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One Team finished the first day of testing at Malaysia 5th fastest out of 10, Pedro De La Rosa was the driver doing all McLarens testing duties.

Due to new testing rules, only one car is allowed to take part in a test session, a driver may change half way through the test day,

Bmw Sauber’s Robert Kubica, finished the day first, a fraction of a second faster than Australian grand prix winner, Kimi Räikkönen.

McLaren’s test driver Pedro De La Rosa finished the day 5th, after an exhausting first day testing at the Sepang circuit. He completed a time just under one second slower than fast man Robert Kubica. Pedro managed to complete 60 laps round the Kuala Lumpur circuit.

McLaren fans will be glad to know that McLaren have added some additional components on their 2007 challenger, the mp4-22. Other than tyre testing, the team have been tweaking these new systems and aerodynamic devices to get the most out of their car, for their two, very talented drivers.

Malaysia’s first day of testing times will be shown below.
