Kim Clijsters of Belgium defeats American Lindsay Davenport in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at the Pacific Life Open at Indian Wells. Clijsters won her seventh match, her third final and second title at Indian Wells and seems to have returned from her injury time out.
In the first set Lindsay Davenport breaks Clijsters serve twice and takes a 4-0 lead. The American starts to hit more errors and the Belgian finally found her rhythm and wins the next six games. Davenport who had a very good start lost the first set 6-4.

In the second set Davenport found a way to come back into the match hitting the right balls and moving better on court. At a 3-1 lead she holds a double breakpoint but Clijsters comes back to deuce and eventually takes the game for 3-2.

In the seventh game Clijsters has the chance to break for 4 all but she could not convert them in her advantage. Clijsters’ third breakpoint was also successfully served away by Davenport. Clijsters hits a service return into the net with Davenport on advantage she now leads 4-3.

At 5-4 Davenport hits an ace on setpoint taking the second set 6-4.

In the third set Clijsters takes a 5-2 lead, Davenport is serving to stay into the match. On deuce Davenport hits a double fault and Clijsters is on matchpoint and wins the title after Davenport hits a return into the net.

After wining the 2003 Pacific Life Open title Kim Clijsters also takes the 2005 edition of the Indian Wells tournament.
