Surprises still on the cards at Wimbledon

By Henin Wins Clijsters Out
June 27 2002

The Belgian duo followed each other on court with contrasting results. Upsets were big on the mens draw and today the women has a taste. Justine Henin beat Denise Chladkova in straight sets on Court 2. The first set saw Henin race to a 5-0 lead and looked to be on for a 6-0 set when Chladkova won two games to lose the first set 6-2.
Henin looked to be in for a easy victory but the Czech ranked 114 in the world put up a brave fight. But Henin was too strong in the end and closed out the match 6-2, 7-5.
Next on court was Kim Clijsters who many would have thought to beat Elena Likhovtseva in easily fashion, but this turned to be around the other way. Likhovtseva won the first set on a tie-break losing is 7-5.
Likhovtseva then kept up her level of play and Cljisters played far too many unforced errors and was too little too late and gave the victory to Likhovtseva 7-5, 6-2.
