The WTA has moved the Fed Cup-finale from november to september. The event will be held directly after the US Open grandslam tournament. The main reason for extending the vacation is the many longterm injuries of topplayers keeping them off the court and devaluating the game.

Among those were worldclassplayers: Justine Henin, the Williams sisters and Kim Clijsters. The last one hopes to return to tennis shortly.

The changes made to the schedule are due the coming tennisseason.
