During the rainy day at the Ordina Open the match was suspended for the first time when Mary Pierce just hit her first point. Before the match began the players had to leave the court during the warm up because of the showers.

When the clouds had drifted off the match could continue until rain poured down again at 2 games all. Lina Krasnoroutskaya didn’t look to have the same shape she showed in previous matches. The Russian was holding two breakpoints at 1 all but the game went for 8 times deuce and Pierce held serve for 2-1 hitting an ace and a solid serve that could not be returned.

At 2 all play was suspended again. After the players had returned Pierce was having the better side of the game and won the first set pretty easy 6-2.

In the second set Pierce was leading 4-1 and Krasnoroutskaya did not find a way to come back into the match. Again the rain was breaking the rhythm of the players. At 5-2 Mary Pierce broke Lina Krasnoroutskaya to win the match. Krasnoroutskaya hits a double fault at 15 all. She managed to hit a backhand winner for 30 all.

Pierce attacked Krasnoroutskaya’s serve and won the point for matchpoint. At 30-40 Lina hits the ball long after Pierce again attacked her serve with a solid return.

French Mary Pierce will be playing the final today against Klara Koukalova of the Czech Republic. The 18-year-old from Prague is aiming for her first WTA title; 29-year-old Pierce might want to bring her experience to call the victory at the Ordina Open 2004 her own.
