Eleni Daniilidou successfull defended her ASB Classic title with a comfortable victory over Ashley Harkleroad becoming the first player in 15 years to defend the title The defending champion sealed her third title in over one hour and rise to 23 in the WTA rankings.

Harkleroad started in good form storming to a 3-1 lead before letting the Greek third seed wing 5 straight games to seal the first set 6-3.

Daniilidou quickly sailed through the second set as nerves started to get into the Americans game losing it 6-3, 6-1.
