This weeks remaining No. 1 after winning Filderstadt Kim Clijsters said she is not happy with how the ITF is organizing the FED Cup competition. "The ITF should come up with a solution with the FED Cup, the players might not want to play FED Cup anymore if thing don’t chance".
"It would be better when the competition is held in the US after the Masters. All the players are there anyway." Clijsters said. She is not playing FED Cup because it does not fit into her schedule. "Coming from Rome and traveling to Moscow is a bit too much for FED Cup. The girls are going to dislike the FED Cup competition. But I think if the event would be moved to the US the Russian girls are going to argue with that. Both Justine and I will not play FED Cup this year".
Clijsters said she would be supporting Lleyton Hewitt and the Australian Davis Cup team. She travels with them and highly enjoys the atmosphere in the team. "I even mix their drinks and give them a massage in the locker room".
She said that all the players are counting down the tournaments and planning their holidays on the Internet. The 20 year old from Bree, Belgium will be spending her time with Lleyton Hewitt and her other Australian friends. Hanging round and working out on the beach or just stay in bed the whole day.
After winning Filderstadt Kim has not yet decided whether she takes the Porsche or the cheque as her reward. When she was asked whether she had taken the Porsche or not by one of the Belgian journalists Clijsters became somewhat annoyed with the question. She said she had no comment and that it is typical for Belgian journalists to ask that kind of questions.
