Bulgaria's Magdalena Maleeva made quick work of her final against Japan's Shinobu Asagoe at the DFS Classic in Edgbaston winning 6-1, 6-4 The third seed has had a good run this week warming up for her Wimbledon Championships starting next Monday.

Asagoe ranked 103 in the world had a tough semi-final against Maria Sharapova who ousted top seed Elena Dementieva.

Maleeva stormed through the first set but the Japanese made a fight in the second with the Bulgarian still coming out on top of the match for her first title this year.
