Sixth seeded Russian Vera Zvonareva became the first player to advance through into the semi-finals by beating Marion Bartoli 6-1, 6-2.

Defending champion Siliva Farina Elia thrashed Anastasia Myskina who has not had a brilliant last couple of weeks. The Russian should have beaten the Italian who isn't a power player like Myskina. But the underdog pulled of victory with a 6-2, 6-3.
