SEADOG SUGDEN REMAINS A TARGET FOR WRIGHT MARK WRIGHT confirmed this morning that he was still attempting to strengthen his squad for the new season. The Chester boss is targeting a few players, including Scarborough striker Ryan Sugden.
Wright said: “Ryan Sugden impressed me when I saw him play for Oldham Athletic last season, and he caused us a lot of problems when he played for Scarborough at our place.
“He really gave us a hard time. He’s got a lot of pace for a six-footer and he’s definitely of interest to me.”
Bradford-born 21-year-old, Sugden, joined Scarborough after a loan spell from Oldham Athletic.
Attacking midfielder, Sugden, is currently out of contract at Scarborough who signed the player at the end of last season.
Wright also confirmed an offer was still on the table for out-of-contract central defender Gary Brabin.
Brabin, who joined Chester from Torquay United last season, was named City’s player of the year and became a firm favourite with the supporters.
Wright said: “Gary Brabin is one player I want to see playing for Chester next season.
“An offer is still on the table for Brabs, but I can’t be spending loads of money, I need to be realistic.
“I’m trying to build a side that can more than hold it’s own in the Conference next season, but we have wage boundaries.”
Wright revealed no players had been released from Chester, but he was hopeful of bringing in more new signings within the next week.
