City can count themselves lucky after Doncaster squandered 3 clear cut chances in the second half. Chester created few chances but will be pleased to come away from Doncaster with a valuable point.

Mark Wright’s starting line-up consisted of 9 players of whom are defensively orientated. The game saw the largest attendance at a nationwide conference game this season, an impressive 4,800+ turned up for the clash of the non league big boys.

The game had a bit of spice added with ex Donny men Jimmy Kelly and Kevin McIntyre returning to their old club for the first time since refusing to renew their contracts at Belle Vue in August.

Chester can count themselves extremely lucky in a game which didn’t live up to the pre match hype. Doncaster squandered 3 clear cut chances in the second half with Rovers number 9 Barnes heading a dolly header over the bar and smashing an open goal chance high and wide after a goalmouth scramble.

Hard working Doncaster made it very hard for Chester to create anything from midfield.

With Yeovil Town winning at Leigh, Chester drop to second in the Conference but will be delighting to keep their unbeaten run of 12 league games intact. Doncaster who have now only picked up 3 points from a possible 15 have dropped to 4th.

Next Up for Chester is the longest trip of the season, Margate on Saturday.
