After the Lord Mayors show.....

Return ?

Cardiff City now only have the league to concentrate on after going out of two cup tournaments at the first hurdle in the same week! 2-1 defeats at Arsenal and Carmarthen have meant it's the league we can really go for this season....

New signing from Rangers Steve Thompson will make play in his first Cardiff City match alongside Cameron Jerome, who is no longer a target for Sheffield United. Neil Warnock has been put off by Sam's valuation of the player. Guylain Nsungu from Darlington who made his debut in the FAW defeat at Carmarthen looks likely to be on the bench.

David Jones is quoted as saying ( of Thompson ) "He is a quality player, but we mustn't expect him to hit it off immediately. If he does that's fantastic, but we have to be patient. He has moved from a top Scottish club in Rangers, his wife is expecting a baby in eight weeks and they have to find a home. There is a lot to do away from football and we have to sort things out like finding the right hospital for Steve's wife.I expect Steve to adapt quickly, but he hasn't played in the Coca-Cola Championship before and he will have to get used to that. That will be an eye-opener for him. He is not at full match fitness and needs the next couple of games to sort that out."

Can't see myself why it should be too difficult chosing a hospital! But there you go....

The Bluebirds will be forced to make defensive changes and emergency last minute signing from WBA - Ricardo Scimeca - looks likely to start! Northern Irish international midfielder Jeff Whitley is suspended so it looks like Willie Boland and Jason Koumas will start.

Burnley are just one point and two places ahead of  Cardiff City, but the Bluebirds need to start winning again and getting some decent home performances under their belts. The Lancastrian side do not travel well and I'd expect a home win in this fixture. We are still not safe from relegation!
