Ex-Bluebird Martyn Giles Signs for Barry Town
Former Cardiff City midfielder Martyn Giles has signed for Welsh Premier strugglers Barry Town, as the financially ruined Dragons look to beat the drop into the southern feeder league for the Welsh top flight.

Giles was released from the Bluebirds towards the end of last season, but has struggled to find a club despite showing promise during his time at Ninian Park. He spent a brief spell at Conference outfit Morecambe, but the 20-year-old didn't settle at the Lancashire outfit and left without registering a first-team appearance.

"Giles is a good player, and will add that little bit of extra quality we need to beat the drop." said newly-appointed Barry boss Colin Addison.

Addison's decision to sign Giles may well have been influenced by Town assistant and former Bluebird David Hughes, who was forced to retire from playing at the tender age of just 23 due to injury problems. It's fair to say that Giles showed signs of developing into a decent player as a Bluebird, and I'd imagine he will have a positive impact on the Barry side who have won only 1 league game all season.

Addison has also signed ex-Barry player Richard Kennedy, and is hoping to make some more additions to the squad later in the week as Town struggle on in the mission for survival.

"Things have started to improve for us, and at TNS last week, there were some positive signs that players are ready to battle out the rest of the season. These latest signings are a boost." added Addison.
