| City's record signing Peter Thorne is
emerging as a major doubt for Saturday's First Division clash against Crewe
Alexandra. The £1.7million striker was substituted during City's 2-3 defeat at the hands of West Ham United in the League Cup on Tuesday night with a sore neck, and will now undergo intensive treatment. The Bluebirds are already missing Alan Lee from their forward line, as the Irish Under-21 international recovers from a cartilage operation. Andy Campbell is also a slight doubt for Saturday, with his thigh strain still causing some problems. This long-list of striker injuries could see Lennie Lawrence picking out-of-favour Gavin Gordon up-front alongside Robert Earnshaw for the visit of Dario Gradi's Crewe, although City's physiotherapists are confident that Peter Thorne will recover from his neck injury in time. |
