| Following the news that the Welsh
Assembly would not be calling in Cardiff City's plans to move to a
new-seater, which would boast an initial capacity of 30,000, City owner Sam
Hammam has vowed to invest up to a further £30million into the club over the
next few seasons. After making his normal speech of how the club belonged as much to people in Rhyl, as loyal supporters in Cardiff, the ambitious Bluebirds owner announced that he will make about £15million available to Lennie Lawrence for transfers, £10million for a new training complex, and £5million to be spent on for the club to achieve academy status. The City owner has always been reluctant to give his full financial backing to City, with his plans for a new stadium, which will include shops, hotels and a casino, never a certainty. But after three years of planning, Hammam has finally got his wish to build the club's new ground, and will now make the additional money available to the club over the next couple of seasons. "The confirmation of the stadium is excellent news for the club, and I hope we can have things finalised in the next 6 or 7 months." said the ambitious Hammam. "I am delighted by the decision of the Welsh Assembly." |
