A City side made up of reserve and youth players has drawn
2-2 with Tiverton Town, in the second ever meeting between the two clubs. The first was a slightly more high-profile match almost 2 years ago in a First Round F.A Cup Tie. The Bluebirds won 3-1 that day, in the tie which was moved to Ninian Park. Stuart Fleetwood shows his superb potential with a brace, his first goal cancelling out Steve Winters early penalty. Tiverton had the better of early proceedings, but City's equaliser was a real boost to the visitors who started to pick up the pace of their game. Fleetwood then gave the Bluebirds the lead just before half-time, as City slowly started to take control of the pre-season friendly. The half time reshuffle had Tiverton looking far livelier though, with Arran Lee-Barrett pulling off a string of good saves early on in the second-half to deny the home side the equaliser. Town's dominance of the second period deserved a goal, and it finally came in the shape of a Kevin Nancekivell strike with only moments left on the clock. Nancekivell turned in a crowded penalty area, and found a gap past Lee-Barrett to give the home side a deserved draw. Full Time - Tiverton Town 2-2 Cardiff City XI |
