Top Ten Things Twenty20 Taught Me

The specatacle that was the Twenty20 world cup final, which in its breath taking thrills, innovation and excitement, reminded many of Gali (Street) cricket played in the subcontinent, was fittingly played between two expert teams of Gali cricketers, India and Pakistan. When India won, the nation went deliriously potty providing many lessons for the serious cricket fan. The top 10 being:

*    Attack is the best form of defense

*  Two dot balls are worse than a wicket

*  Maidens are what men fight over

*  Paddle, scoop, flick and jab are legitimate strokes

*  Everybody has an inner Shahid Afridi in them

*  Milking belongs in a dairy, not a cricket field

*  It is better to misdirect than overstep

*  Run a ball is boring

*  Silly point is silly

*  All you need to win is “jog in there” and bowl

good one, i think on contrary bowler will get due in this formof the cricket as batter. dot ball is equl to 4 and good bowler easily get 2/3 wickets in the 4 over which is not possible in the ODI

disagree with * Two dot balls are worse than a wicket

two dot balls are bad...

but a wkt is even more bad for me... (mainly within first 10 overs and last 2-3 overs)

India was the only team who didn't bother about scoring too fast in first 4-5 overs... and they then reaped the rewards in the 7-15 over segment...

I learnt one more thing - World Champions Australia as per their Captain found it very hard to play 20 overs travel within south Africa and recover in time to play against teams like Zimbabwe. But they still managed to Trounce England. Guess how hard England must have found to manage time between nudie bars and 20 overs matches. People like Mascarenas thinking that they can hit many sixes in all the match.

Actually one other think - Most Violent Players supposedly to take 20/20 matches alone did not really fire at all - They are

1) Andrew Symonds
2) Gilchrist
3) Shahid Afridi
4) Mascrenas
5) Oram
6) Lou Vincent
7) Hershel Gibbs

and so many others

love the comments especially "Jog IN there" and bowl.. ahahhaha

although a wicket is critical in Twenty 20.. funny but true.. you'd think that most international teams would be able to go full blast inspite of wickets lost for 20 overs.. guess not.
