After a desperately disappointing match for their fans on Thursday which saw their team limp out of this season's FA Cup, Wolves must now travel to St Mary's Stadium today to face their victors once again - in the Premier League.
Nuno Espirito Santo says he has no regrets for his team selection for the game at Molineux, and reiterates that the solutions lie within the squad, so we must wait and see what his plans will be for today's early kick-off match at Southampton. Most fans will have been surprised to see Captain Conor Coady rested for the Cup game and will expect to see him return in the centre of defence, perhaps with Romain Saiss alongside him. Willy Boly is still unfit to return to his defensive role. Nuno will surely be aware that a win will take Wolves above their opponents in the table, so fans will be hoping to see Neto, Traore and José atarting in attack, althoiugh Daniel Podence will still be missing through injury.
Having put out a strong team for Thursday's game and also having a long list of injury problems, Saints manager Ralph Haessenhuttl will have new loanee Minamino available, but may have to ask most of the same players to go again today which could be beneficial to Wolves. Having failed to score at Newcastle against 10 men then against 9 men for the final 15 minutes, Wolves should be looking to exert their usual second half energy for a win, just as they did last season, recovering from 2 goals down to take the points.
The match will kick off at 12 midday and will be shown by Amazon Prime. Our referee will be Graham Scott and Martin Atkinson will be on VAR duty.
This board will carry updates on the progress of the match, and board members are encouraged to post their own observations for the benefit of those unable to otherwise follow it.

Six changes for today's game and Nuno puts out the strongest team we could have expected from him. Marcal is back on the bench. Line-up:
Saints are putting out much of the same team as Thursday with Vestergaard and Minamino brought in. They don't have a lot of recognised replacements on the bench so we must tire them out as much as possible through Neto and Adama. However they have a good front line which we will have to beware of too.
More like the team we wanted to see in the cup.
A repeat of something like the corresponding fixture last year on 18th January would do very nicely ....... although we were cr@p first half but a wonderful and spirited comeback in the second half, winning 3-2. I was there and it was simply fantastic.

Fast paced start to the game. Free kick from left put in by Neto & headed over from an offside position by Jose
Good break down left by Neto, Joao tries his luck but blasts wide. Neto hassles well to earn a throw high up. Down other end Minamino’ shot parried by Rui well but offside flag up
Willian Jose seems to look for the pass rather than a chance to shoot. Romeu takes out Joao & gets a yellow card
Great opportunity for Adama after being fed by NS but he is heavy footed & loses the ball. Good play by Ings to set up Redmond and he brings out a great save by Rui for a corner.
Great play down left wing by Armstrong who puts a bal easily past Donk for Ings to lash it past Rui. Superb goal but poor defending by Donk

Great Ings goal. Beautiful volley, after some very good wing play.
BUT
Donk was weak in his attempt to block the Armstrong cross and considering we had so many gold shirts in the box, who on earth was following, or even trying to follow Ings??
A brighter start than on Thursday but so far, the same outcome is more than a real possibility

As I thought on the replay, Neves and Moutinho culpable in complete failure to follow Ings. Still a great finish
Traore is having very little success up his wing so far, and Jose is having no impact on the game whatsoever
Goals certainly change games and thus far that goal has pushed us firmly in our shell. Poor possession, passing and a bit of panic
Saints look dangerous every time they attack. Neto now has two men on him every time he has the ball. NS chases down Bertrand & earns a corner for Neto to put over but met with a poor header by Jose.
Two minutes added time and Saiss concedes a corner. Whistle blows. Another very poor first half from Wolves offering very little threat, no shots and a failure to defend an attack down the wing. Donk gave Armstrong all the space he needed and his perfect pass to Ings was dispatched superbly past Rui.
Saints are very much in control and to be truthful we look toothless. Everything comes up our wings - we pose absolutely no threat through the middle of the park & teams now know how to negate us by putting 2 or more defenders on Neto & Adama!!

Well none of our players have stepped up to the mark so far, Nuno needs to put things in order during the break or we will sink without trace.
All of our attacking intentions seem to be down the wing nothing to lose being a bit more direct through the middle, if we can pass accurately of course which we haven’t done so far.
Need a much improved performance for this second half.

Atrocious passing from Wolves and no zip about them. Again what is the point of Traore? Is he match fit? I'm afraid it's looking like men against boys.

Adama attacks through the middle & Jonny earns a corner . A better star by Wolves with a feeling of greater urgency
Jonny actually taking the play the Soton a bit getting two corners, which naturally come to nothing
Good effort & shot on target from Neto . Ref gives a penalty against Bertrand after a shot from NS. Harsh but Neves steps up and scores. More than we deserved but we’ll take it

Saiss booked for a foul on Armstrong. Wolves pressing better. Redmond breaks & feeds Armstrong & his shot is deflected by CC for a corner Saints appeal for a pen against Donk for h’ball but no joy. NS fouled just outside the saints area.
We’ve upped the pace this half, regardless of scoring, although that helps. Neto and Traore have swapped sides - that’s the only change.
Agree about the penalty Chesh, harsh but I’ll take it.
Neves with a decent volley now, but comfortable for the keeper.
We now look up for the fight!!!

Neves tries a shot from just outside area but easily collected. Some very good play from Wolves with Adama marauding through the middle. Bednarek gets a yellow card then puts Joao’s free kick over his own bar. Minamino replaced by Djenepo
Jonny earns another corner but should have fed Jose first. Superb solo goal by Neto

Wolves get a dodgy corner through Neves. Adama gets it across but McCarthy gets it. More confidence in Wolves play now.
Saints break & get a corner off Donk which is excellently collected by Rui. Jonny now sitting in the stand with an ice pack on his knee. Adama, Neves & Neto are having a huge impact on the game now.
Great double save to deny Ward-Prowse from distance then Adams who was offside - but Rui didn’t know that!!

Good ball in by Redmond after Adama foul not given, Adams heads it well wide. Six minutes plus AT to play. & no sign of any further subs for Wolves which makes sense
Last minute and Wolves are fighting well in all areas. Neto gets MotM from Ally McCoist then a yellow card. Five added minutes to defend our lead.
Kilman replaces our top man Pedro Neto. Ralph H upset as McCarthy puts the ball straight in to touch. Playing for possession now.into the last minute
And unbelievably after a horrific first half we have won 2-1. Nuno appeared upset at the final whistle. A lucky penalty for Neves to score and a superb solo goal for Neto sealed it after a superb Ings goal.
We leapfrog Saints & Palace into 12th place on 30 points. Was it worth it to go out of the FA Cup?

Fantastic lads, well done!!
After a pretty poor, sometimes dire first half, that surely was the tonic we all needed in the second half.
What a great second half in a match reminiscent of last years 3-2. The classic game of two halves ..... another on today.
Traore and Neto took the match to them superbly well in that second half and they weren’t the only ones. The possession and passing from the likes of Neves and Moutinho improved no end and unbelievably I think we may have even deserved the win overall? Answers on a postcard.
I think the handball was very harsh but we need a bit of luck and the penalty was taken with panache !!
The winner, well, quite superb from our seasons stand out player, Pedro Neto. If you are good enough, it doesn’t matter how old you are!!

Well they all turned out for that second half and made Saints look second best so well done Nuno for switching Neto and Traore and driving into the box, refreshing to see.

No, not for me, the FA cup selection was all wrong BUT I am and will be celebrating today!!

We did everything in the second half that we didn't do in the first. Pressed and closed down better, moved the ball quicker.

The Saiss yellow card wasn't even a foul, took the ball as clean as a whistle.
Great goal from Neto and good games from Coady and Patricio. One or two reasonable runs from Traore in the second half but overall, poor. Must admit if he doesn't find form soon I will have lost patience with him so fingers crossed.

All the talk on TV is about the two penalty decisions. It was harsh but we’ve have poor decisions against us time after time. Carney and Shearer suggest it has ruined the game. I thoroughly disagree 😂😂
We were up for it second half. An incredible mirror image of last year when we won after another dire start, the big difference being that I am not currently in the The Admiral Sir Lucius Curtis enjoying a great after match victory pint with a couple of my Ivybridge Wolves mates.
I had thought we had lost the ability to fight back in a meaningful way. Okay, we did the same v Arsenal but hat was a one off bizarre match, today it was 11 v 11 and a much more conventional comeback. I’m elated!!
Another thing, a fellow Molineux Way poster recommended the correct score to me ........ only one of us put money on it!!! 😂

Well I didn't see that 2nd half performance coming after an awful 1st half again. Why can't we perform for 90 minutes?. Brilliant winner from Neto, what a player he's turning into, you just know the big boys will coming sniffing soon hope we can hang on to him. We have still got to get out of this bad habit of giving teams a goal start, we love to do it the hard way.
