First of all I would like to apologise for not setting up the thread for our last game against Sheff Wed. Christmas and work kept me very busy so never got the chance to deal with things. Ok now on to today where Wolves go into another live TV game looking to try and win for only the third time on home soil this season. Only Charlton (2-1) and Huddersfield (3-0) have failed to take at least a point from Molineux with the other nine games ending with four draws and five defeats.

This will be the 39th meeting between the two sides with both sides winning 16 each. However we have not beaten them in the last six meetings and our last home win against them was in 2004. Since then it's played three lost three.

Wolves last home victory in 2004 is Wolves biggest home win over Reading. Reading recorded their biggest win four years later by 3-0.

Highest aggregate score is five, A 3-2 loss in 1986 and the 4-1 win 2004.

Wolves have won their past two Boxing Day matches without conceding, this after losing the three beforehand (seven conceded).

The Royals have won just once in their past nine away games held on Boxing Day (D5 L3).

Wolves have won just two of their past 12 league matches (D4 L6). They have also gone six without a win at Molineux.

However, Reading have lost each of their past five away matches in the league, their worst run in the league since April 2013 (also five defeats).

The Royals have put 110 shots on target this season, more than any other team in the division.

Remember the 2-3 in 1986, fighting a desperate and unsuccessful relegation fight in which we went 2-0 up. Of course it all went belly up and one of the more depressing evenings in my life as a Wolves fan.

Good luck to Wolves this afternoon, I think we'll need it.

Today is one of those coincidences that you get every once in a while.

Exactly 10 years ago, Boxing Day 2005, my Dad, together my son and myself attended this fixture. After a life time of Wolves support, it turned out to be Dads last match before he died and by coincidence the opposition was Reading. Like many of our influences on this board, Dad absolutely loved the Wolves.

The score on 26/12/05? Wolves 0:2 Reading. Hopefully a different outcome today.

Impossible to see us keeping a clean sheet, hope we can grab at least another goal otherwise we will be I trouble again

Ikeme 6 - solid game, Blackmon shot aside, important clearances from corners
Iorfa 6 - good early, some dogged defending at the end, did'nt get much protection from Henry or Graham to be fair
Batth 5 - distribution is woeful, some good headers
EEL 7 - shaky early but got better as the game went along, far better than his partner
Doherty 3 - out of position, out of his depth, shocking distribution
KMac 4 - barely touched the ball, didn't look arsed
Coady 6 - too similar to Kmac to play together, but at least he won some tackles
Henry 5 - only because he scored, otherwise a 3
Graham 6 - OK in fits and starts, needed replacing earlier, defensively naive
Edwards 3 - useless, absolutely useless, his efforts probably gets a 10/10 from Jackett FFS
Afobe 5 - isolated, no service

Byrne 6 - brief cameo but did more in 5 minutes than Edwards in 90 IMO
Holt NR - not enough time, but he did win a header!

Jackett 5 - tactics? should have made subs earlier, 4-1-4-1 doesnt work and just invited more pressure

Well done Timber. Like you I couldn't see any possibility of a clean sheet.

How lucky were we? A really weak home performance, yet I get all 3 points. I'm not complaining, in terms of avoiding getting caught up in relegation, just what we need to steer clear, however in the second half, dear on dear!

I thought the first 45 was quite entertaining , in a lack of defensive manner kind of way.

Up the Wolves!

Me as well, especially in the 2nd half when Wolves players kept passing/hoofing to Reading players!

As for the crowd, I'd say 17,000 at the most.

Agreed, 1st half was OK and 2nd was dreadful. KJ should have subbed-off Henry and Edwards at about the 60 minute mark. How Edwards stays on the pitch for 90 is beyond me...

I figure we need another 7-8 wins to be safe. Cannot afford to lose to Charlton.

Two poor sides. Watched it with the in-laws who summed it up well: "two poor sides at the wrong end of a poor league."

Pattern was set in the first half with so many long balls. Could've been 3-3 at HT, both sides denied a pen each.

Second half was embarrassing. My brother-in-law actually thought we were the away side!

Harsh to give Afobe a rating at all when he saw no ball unless he came back into our own third.

Hard to believe with a clean sheet, but their attack is as bad, if not worse than ours.

Holt - if he's all we can afford, please can we approach Peter Kay - at least he'll keep us entertained...

It's come to the point now that I doubt I'll even bother to watch us if we are on the tv, that was embarrassing to watch last night, sitting deep and hanging on for 45mins at home as if we were a Huddersfield or Rotherham. We are small time now in everything we do, it's not a Wolves I recognise at all, I'm clinging on now to have any interest whatsoever in the club. I was asked yesterday who we were playing next, at one time I could reel off our next 5 or 6 fixtures no problem, I replied Brighton, I didn't even know that we were playing tomorrow, that's how bad it's got lol.

I think knowing the next run of fixtures is a good measure of my enthusiasm as well. I could reel them off too without any effort but it's becoming increasingly difficult. I forgot about tomorrow until early last week. After Brighton I couldn't name our next league fixture after the cup.

I'll keep watching, it's in my nature but it is remarkable when we get a win and I still feel thoroughly downbeat about our performance - yesterday was truly pathetic at times. I'm off to Brighton on Friday too. Luckily we've got a few days there to enjoy, however despite looking forward to getting to a new away ground the match itself and seeing Wolves has become a side show instead of the reason for booking a few days away. Ever the optimist, I hope that by some miracle we'll put in a terrific performance - all evidence to the contrary. It's grim at the moment ay it?

I went out , recorded it and couldn't be bothered watching it back at full speed when I came back so played it back at plus 30 speed. 3 minutes of my life I'll never get back to see if we won or not

It's a win Angry, even if it was not deserved. Worrying thing for me was the crowd, clearly club figure was a joke, with hardly any away support I agree with Badge and Co it was about 17,000. Has to be the poorest turn out since the late eighties for a boxing day game
