the goal just before half time killed us, not that we deserved anything. we should have made sure we got in 2-1 down, it would have give us half a chance, sh#te clearance from hause for the 2nd
we've got some good young players, but you need more than that. it all comes down to getting a new owner, until we do that were not goner mount a serious challenge. god knows when that's goner happen.
Disgusting performance from Batth, any slower he'd have a shell on his back. It's quite clear we are short of both numbers and quality at the back after Stearmans departure with the comparative level of investment between the two clubs evident. Mid table finish at best I'm afraid with Afobe leaving sooner rather than later.
Batth has always been slow but his lack of pace today was just plain embarrassing. Just before Derbys 2nd goal where Martinez came out of his area to sweep up, Batth had a 10 yard headstart over the forward and still got overtook
Batth is what he is, a old fashioned blocker, if he had some experience around him he'd be a different player but considering he's playing next to two inexperienced defenders and has about as much protection in front of him as a tea towel for a bullet proof vest, I don't think he does too badly. I'm not really bothered if a central defender has pace anyway, isolate most of them against quick strikers and they are going to get beat in a 1 on 1 sprint. Positionally I think he's decent and does the basics of defending well but yeah he had a nightmare yesterday, to be fair though Martin was excellent, probably the best hold up striker in the division - strength, vision, movement and link up play, he's got the lot.
I've not seen much of him but Wallace looks like a 37 year old crack addict and judging by yesterday's performance, plays like one. Reminds me of Saville, it's like watching a little kid try and play against adults. Then again, other than the clowns on other forums, who expected any different from a league 2 player?
