Wolves play Northampton for the third time in four seasons in the League Cup, on this occasion in the First Round.
This has been a bogey competition for us in recent years, although Kenny Jackett managed to take Millwall to the Wembley in the semi finals of the FA Cup in his final season there, so there is hope he can rub off on this young Wolves team. Can Wolves make it past this tricky tie? To find out, join our resident text commentator Ian.PershoreWolf and our other forum members to follow and discuss all the happenings during the game. The coverage on Wolves Player is bizarre. The main commentator is deathly quiet, whilst the guest commentator - one of our backroom staff who also played for N'hampton is twice as loud!!

This is what's worrying about this season. Strip out the bomb squad,get a few injuries and we
could be in all sorts of trouble. Evans and Price on the pitch togather has always spelled ddisaster. Individually ok but poor togather. Leon Clarke..forget it.

Final whistle.....beaten by League 2 side. Well done Northampton - sounds like they deserved the victory.
Unbelievable result. It just seems like we don't have any intention of ever progressing in this competition!!

Season after season the squad players at this and every other club fail to deliver in the two cups.No wonder fans dont turn up ,the clubs are killing the competitions -fans arent daft -if you dont play your best team its obvious you dont really care.

weve been saying this for ages, the squad is not good enough, perhaps some might realise it now
Squad players are never good enough thats the point thats why they are squad players
That's wrong FBBY, your squad should have strength in depth. We have about 5/6 players who make the team tick in Ikeme, Batth, McDonald, Sako and Dicko and the rest of the eleven are just ok. Then you get to the bench and there's nothing. Not even ok at this level. Every club should have 22 players good enough to play at the level they're at, one in each position. Else it's curtains. We have about 10.

I said to Brother-in-law as we was leaving the ground that I don't think I will bother with these cup games if we continue to not try.
Tonight we did too many lazy passes which allowed Northampton to break to often and we did not do enough inside the box when we attacked.
Our success last season was built on decent defending -last night we were very poor ,mccarey got a hand to and should have stopped the first ,the second was a free header from a corner and ricketts and mccarey got in a right muddle for the third.
