Wolves could be facing a striking crisis heading into Saturdays game at Burnley with the news that Jay Bothroyd is struggling to overcome a calf strain he picked up in training.

With Bothroyd a doubt, Cort suspended and Thomasz Frankowski appearing to have no future at the club it would leave Wolves with just Leon Clarke and Craig Davies as the two fit strikers.

Wolves hope to complete the signing of 21 year old Blackburn striker Jemal Johnson later this week for an undisclosed fee, however Wolves will be cutting it fine for the American striker to be available on Saturday as personal terms are yet to be agreed.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy said to the Express and Star "He has hurt his calf - we are hoping it is fatigue and that he is going to be OK".

Meanwhile Wolves striker Davies was sent off tonight for Wales U21's. He was shown a red card for an off the ball incident after allegedly retaliating after being spat out during the U21's 3-2 defeat to Israel.
