WOLVES full back Lee Naylor could be following Kenny Miller to Celtic after Wolves confirmed Celtic had made their interest in the defender official.

 

Naylor is the longest serving Wolves player having been with the club his whole career. The Bloxwich born defender made his debut for Wolves back in October 1997 in a 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City.

Naylor impressed, kept his place and is now one appearance short of his 270th. However Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today confirmed that Naylor had been the subject of official interest from Celtic.

"There has been a bit of interest but I don't know what level it has gone to, but I would expect interest because Lee is a good player." McCarthy told the clubs official website.

  "When I was considering whether or not to come to Wolves I felt we had lost too many players in the summer to be competitive, but one of the good things was that we had a good left-back in Lee Naylor.

  "I would be reluctant to see him sold but the other side of the coin is that he's only got one year left on his current contract. He's been offered a new deal and I'd love him to sign."

Strachan is a keen admirer of the 26 year old and has tried to prize him away from Molineux in the past however the full back was always keen on staying and furthering his career at Molineux.

The Celtic boss recently stated that he had a budget in reach with the majority of English Championship clubs as apposed to their Champions League rivals and sees the Wolves man as a player within his budget.

It's clear that Naylor would find it difficult to leave Molineux however the lure of the Champions League may be an offer he's unable to refuse.
