LE CASTELLET, MAY 16 2006 – Robert Doornbos kicked of Red Bull Racing’s testweek at Paul Ricard today together with his teammate Christian Klien. At the modern track, located near the French Côte d’Azur, Robert is scheduled to test two days just like David Coulthard and Christian Klien. Main objective of this three-day test this week for RBR is to prepare the team as well as possible for the next GP in Monaco. As the Monaco track has some very specific characteristics, the team used the short and twisty track today in order to simulate everything as realistic as it can get. At the High tech Test Track the team also worked on improving the traction control and finetuning their gearbox. Over the entire day Robert completed 86 laps in total.

ROBERT DOORNBOS: “This is quite an important test for us as we have many things scheduled to do this week. I started my job this morning with finding the correct gearratios and general gearbox development work. We also improved our software for the starts, as this is more important here than enywhere else. This afternoon I was assigned to complete a busy tyre evaluation programme for Monaco, but an engine problem shortened our day. Christian mostly focussed on performance runs and testing our new aerodynamic upgrades. On Thursday I will continue testing and try to make the best tyre choice for the Canadian GP.”
