Jordan are disputing Red Bull Racing's signing of Mark Smith saying the technical director is still contracted to them.

Smith joined Jordan in the weeks prior to the team's sale to the Midland Group. However, following Alex Shnaider purchase of the team, Smith left and was signed as Red Bull's technical director a few weeks later.

Jordan, though, are disputing this.

"The situation with Mark Smith is not clear at all," Jordan team boss Colin Kolles told Friday's FIA press conference at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

"There are some announcements made, maybe he signed some other contract. We still have a contract with Mark Smith, that is the fact."

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, though, said he knew nothing of Smith's contract with Jordan and believed he was free to join Red Bull.

"As far as I am concerned he will be joining the company imminently (as deputy technical director)," he said.

"Colin's comments today are obviously the first I have heard of anything to the contrary."

Whether Jordan will take this matter further remains to be seen.
