Team Summary:
The start of the opening Friday practice session for the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix would see a rush of drivers including the first of the Williams. The hard tyre was just about the only tyre being used and times would start to be set with Alonso quickest with a 1m:17.360. But Norris would move ahead with a 1m:15.646 followed by Alonso and Ricciardo. But Verstappen would move to the top with a 1m:15.266 using the hard tyre. Ricciardo would then set a 1m:15.263 to be quickest from Verstappen and Norris. The Williams cars were currently 15th & 17th as Verstappen stopped out on the track with a gearbox issue.

With the Virtual Safety Car deployed they would recover the stopped Red Bull. But the session would be stopped with a Red Flag. The Williams pair were 15th and 17th as they both returned to their pits. The top ten was currently Verstappen from Ricciardo, Norris, Alonso, Stroll, Perez, Sainz, Leclerc, Schumacher and Russell. The session would restart cars would start to come out including both Williams with both now on the soft tyre. On the soft Alonso was now quickest with a time of 1m:13.635 with a Williams now second. Norris was now quickest with a 1m:12.929 also using the soft tyre followed by Ricciardo and Alonso. But more soft tyre times would come in with Sainz now quickest with a 1m:12.845. The Williams pair were now eighth and 11th as the top eight were all soft tyre times. The Williams cars were separated by 0.890s with the slower of the Williams cars now 14th.

But both Williams cars had improved their times and were now eighth and 15th. With twenty minutes remaining the order was now Sainz from Norris, Ricciardo, Leclerc, Perez, Alonso, Ocon, Alex, Schumacher, and Stroll tenth. But Russell on the soft tyre was now third ahead of Ricciardo. But the Mercedes would go quickest with a time of 1m:12.455. With a track that was very busy the Williams pair were now 10th and 20th. Hamilton was now second followed by Sainz, Norris and Ricciardo. The session would come to an end with a Mercedes 1-2 with Russell leading Hamilton followed by Sainz, Norris, Ricciardo, Leclerc, Perez, Alonso, Ocon and Alex tenth. All the drivers were able to compete practice starts from the grid. With the end of the session for Williams their drivers were tenth and 20th with Alex a considerable margin ahead of Nicholas. A very mixed result for the team.

Alex Albon:
Alex would be the last car to take to the track for the opening practice and he would set a 1m:19.235 to be 16th right behind his team-mate. This would become 17th but with a 1m:17.050 he would improve to be 14th, dropping to 15th. With the Red Flag he would pit having completed four laps. Alex had been on the radio to his engineer complaining about locking everywhere. Alex would return with the restart but was now on the soft tyre. He would set a 1m:14.668 to be second dropping to be fifth then eighth. Alex would improve with a time of 1m:14.251 and would pit after a eight lap run remaining eighth having his front wing changed doing a back to back on the updated endplate. Alex would improve with a 1m:14.063 running on used soft tyres returning to eighth. He would pit after a three lap run and on his return was back on the hard tyre and with a ten lap run on the hard he would pit changing to the soft as the session came to an end completing a practice start.

Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would be first out for Williams in the Friday practice session running on the hard tyre. His time was a 1m:21.591 which was quite slow seeing him drop down the order to be 11th. He would improve with a 1m:18.713 to be 14th. A 1m:18,155 would see him now 15th but a 1m:17.483 would see him now 17th. Nicholas would pit having completed seven laps. With the restart Nicholas was back out on the soft tyre. Nicholas would set a 1m:15.864 to currently be 10th. A 1m:15.436 would see Nicholas now 11th. He would drop to 13th but with a 1m:15.122 he would improve to be 13th. Nicholas would pit after an eight lap run. After a short stop he would return running on used soft tyres currently 17th. He would drop to 18th and then would pit changing to the hard tyre now 20th. He would complete twelve laps on the hard prior to pitting with the end of the session.
