Team Summary:
With the start of the opening period of qualifying for the 2021 Austrian GP we would see both Haas cars running on the soft tyre. A 1m:06.127 from Schumacher from Mazepin who both pitted as more drivers took to the track. A 1m:05.523 from Stroll only to see other drivers move ahead. After quite a few quick laps it would be Verstappen quickest with a 1m:04.249 from Sainz and Norris. But Hamilton and Bottas were second and third. Sainz was fourth followed by Norris, Perez, Ricciardo, Leclerc, Raikkonen and Giovinazzi tenth.

With their first runs the Williams pair were 13th and 16th. Norris was now second followed now by Alonso, Hamilton and Bottas. Both Williams drivers would pit after their first runs. Several drivers had used the medium tyre for their first run including both Aston Martins. The track would clear with three minutes remaining with Mazepin first back out followed by large numbers of drivers. The top five were still in the pits as drivers started their final run with two minutes remaining. With the end it would be Verstappen from Norris, Alonso, Hamilton, Bottas, Sainz, Giovinazzi, Perez, Gasly and Vettel tenth. George was 12th while Nicholas was out of qualifying. But he was joined by Ocon and Raikkonen.

With the second period Perez would be out first running on the medium setting a 1m:04.554. There would be a mix of medium and soft tyre runners. A 1m:04.501 from Hamilton but Verstappen would go quicker with a 1m:04.208 with both on the medium tyre. Perez was third followed by Stroll but Vettel would go second only to see Norris and Perez move ahead. The Williams was now ninth with Vettel now fourth followed by Hamilton, Stroll, Gasly, Bottas, Russell, and Tsunoda tenth. Outside the top ten were both Ferrari's but they were on the medium tyre. The second runs would begin as the session ended as the sole Williams dropped to 12th. But with a 1m:04.553 he was now 9th dropping to 10th and through into the final period of qualifying.

The top ten after the second period would see Verstappen remain quickest from Hamilton, Bottas, Gasly, Norris, Perez, Vettel, Tsunoda, Stroll, and George tenth. With the start of the final period all the drivers except the remaining Williams car were all out on the soft tyre. Verstappen would set a 1m:03.720 to lead Norris, Hamilton, Bottas, Perez, Gasly, Vettel, Tsunoda and Stroll ninth. George had yet to set a tyre only coming out for a single run. Vettel was under investigation for impeding Alonso who was on his last flying lap in the second period.

The final runs would see Verstappen retain pole but Norris was the barest of margins behind in second. Perez was third followed by Hamilton, Bottas, Gasly, Tsunoda, Vettel, George, and Stroll tenth. So the Williams Racing Team will see their drivers start from 9th and 18th. Such a massive difference between George and Nicholas. But now the team is presented with another opportunity to secure that points scoring result. Hopefully better luck will fall the Williams team come Sunday.

George Russell:
George would come out for his first run using the soft tyre. George would set a 1m:05.155 tio be tenth. He would rop to 13th and would pit after a three lap run. George would follow his team-mate out again on the soft tyre. George would set a 1m:04.907 to be 12th. With the second period George was back out using the soft tyre. George would set a 1m:04.650 to be seventh dropping to ninth. For his second run he would return on the medium tyre. He would set a 1m:04.553 that would see him finish 10th and for the first time this season onto the final period of qualifying. With a single lap George would set a 1m:04.591 to be ninth. In post qualifying interviews George would say "Q3 under any circumstances is massive for us ... I have got more and more confidence in the car .. points have got to be the minimum ... we have got the flexibility one stop two stop ... try and move forward."

Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would follow his team-mate out using the soft tyre. A 1m:05.246 would see Nicholas 16th. He would pit after a three lap run. Nicholas would be first out for Williams for his second run again on the soft tyre. A 1m:05.195 would see Nicholas remain in the bottom five and out of qualifying. He was 0.288 behind his team-mate.
