Team Summary:
The Williams team drivers would be first out and on the soft tyre would initially set the quickest times. But the track would become very busy as others, all on the soft tyre, would start their runs. As more times were set it would be Stroll quickest with a 1m:16.701 followed by Perez, Sainz, Giovinazzi, Norris and Raikkonen. But Hamilton would jump to the top of the times with a 1m:15.778 only to see Bottas quicker with a 1m:15.749. Currently the Williams drivers were 11th and 12th. Verstappen was now third with Kvyat now sixth. But Leclerc was able to move into sixth but Albon would move ahead into sixth. The top ten was Bottas, Hamilton, Verstappen, Stroll, Perez, Albon, Leclerc, Kvyat, Sainz and Ricciardo tenth.

With four minutes remaining Perez would be the first driver to return for a further soft tyre run. The first of the Williams would come out for their third run. He would be joined by the second Williams and pretty much the entire field. With the latest soft tyre runs the Williams drivers would finish in 18th and 19th. The top ten was Bottas, Hamilton, Verstappen, Albon, Perez, Leclerc, Stroll, Ocon, Norris and Kvyat. Both Ferrari's had made it into Q2 but Vettel was just 15th. So that was qualifying for the Williams Racing Team but their pace is such that they are very close amongst the likes of Haas and Alfa Romeo.

The second period of qualifying would see Hamilton remain quickest from Bottas, Verstappen, Albon, Ricciardo, Stroll, Leclerc, Ocon, Perez, and Norris tenth after the first runs. After the second runs Ocon would be passed by Stroll for sixth and Sainz would take tenth from Norris. The final period and the first runs would see Hamilton quickest with a 1m:15.144 followed by Bottas, Verstappen, Albon, Perez, Stroll, Ricciardo, Leclerc, Sainz and Ocon. The second runs would see Hamilton defend his pole position from Bottas and Verstappen. The remaining positions would remain unchanged except Ocon would fail to set a time having gone off the track lucky enough to keep it away from the barrier. For Williams the result was very much of what could have been. They would finish in 18th and 19th. For Nicholas his result was pretty much the best he could achieve. For George his final run could have seen him into Q2 but one mistake running wide would ruin his chances. The session was not great in terms of the outright result but in terms of the potential that the car had it was encouraging.

George Russell:
George would be out first in qualifying trying to make up time for his FP3 session issues. He was using the soft tyre. George would set a 1m:18.024 to go quickest. George would drop to second behind Nicholas. He would pit after a two lap run. George would return for another run again on the soft tyre. George would set a 1m:17.475 to currently be 17th. this would become 18th as he pitted. As the session drew to a close George would be back out for a third soft tyre run. George was on an improved lap and would go well in the second sector to finish with a 1m:17.232 to be 12th. but he would drop to 18th. His final lap had been spoilt by George running wide going across the gravel but despite this he was able to finish his lap but he would have lost a few tenths. That was his qualifying session finished. .George would comment that considering the lack of running he did a good job and that he was pleased with his efforts.

Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would follow team-mate George out on the soft tyre. Nicholas would set a 1m:17.924 to move ahead of his team-mate. Nicholas would pit after completing two laps. With nine minutes remaining Nicholas would return for a second soft tyre run. Nicholas was now 19th but his next lap was a 1m:17.320 to be 13th. Nicholas was back out for a third run on the soft tyre. He would improve with a 1m:17.320 to be 19th but was out of qualifying..
