Team Summary:
With the start of the second Friday practice session for the 2020 Tuscany
Grand Prix it would be a slow start with a few drivers coming out for their
first runs using a mix of medium and hard tyres. Grosjean was the early
quickest with a 1m:19.257 only to see Norris move ahead with a 1m:18.658.
Grosjean was second followed by Raikkonen and Giovinazzi. The quickest time
was on the medium and it would be the medium tyre runners who would move up
the times. Kvyat was now third followed by Vettel, Raikkonen, and Sainz
sixth. The top four times were on the medium tyre as we now had both
Williams drivers running again running a split tyre evaluations. At the
front Perez and Stroll were second and third using the medium tyre. Grosjean
was fourth but had pitted with an issue. Albon was fifth while Verstappen
would go quickest with a 1m:18.281. Also on the medium Bottas was now
quickest with a 1m:18.019.
After their first series of laps the Williams drivers were now 12th and 19th
with one on the medium and the other the hard, with the team having split
their drivers. Hamilton was now in third using the hard with the Williams
drivers now 13th and 19th. Bottas would improve his quickest time with a
1m:17.997. After a quite period on the track we would start to see drivers
returning for soft tyre runs. Ricciardo would move up to second with Perez
third. But with a crash from Norris the session would be red flagged. The
order was Bottas, Ricciardo, Perez, Verstappen, Hamilton, Raikkonen,
Leclerc, Stroll, Vettel and Norris in tenth.
The session would restart with quite a few drivers returning to complete
their interrupted runs. Bottas would set a 1m:16.989 to remain quickest but
Hamilton was now second followed by Verstappen and Albon. Ricciardo was now
fifth followed by Ocon, Perez, Gasly, Raikkonen and Leclerc tenth. The
Williams drivers were currently 16th and 18th. With just over fifteen
minutes remaining Raikkonen would be hit by Perez, who had come out of the
pit lane. The session would be stopped with debris on the track. The session
would restart with ten minutes remaining and would become very busy. Drivers
would continue their runs until the end of the session. With the end of the
session the top ten would be Bottas, Hamilton, Verstappen, Albon, Ricciardo,
Ocon, Perez, Gasly, Raikkonen, and Leclerc tenth. The Williams drivers would
have a fairly typical session finishing down the order as they continue
their fight with the Haas and Alfa Romeo teams. Very much the case that both
drivers are pushing to get the best out of the FW43, but it is still lacking pace
and that is not something that is going to come quickly even with new
owners.
George Russell:
With fifteen minutes completed George would start his first run using the
hard tyre. He would set a 1m:20.313 to be 15th. A 1m:20.913 would see him
currently 17th. He would dropt o 19th and would pit after a six lap run.
With just under an hour remaining George would return on the soft tyre.
George would set a 1m:18.843 to currently be 12th. He would pit after just a
two lap run. In his pit he would drop to 16th. After a short break he would
return on another set of soft tyres. He would fail to improve his time
remaining 16th. But it would appear that he was on a longer run using the
soft tyre. George would comment that his fronts weer fading away quite a
bit. George would pit after a 12 lap run coming in due to a red flag. He
would return but was using the hard tyre. He would complete a seven lap run
pitting with the end of the session.
Nichols Latifi:
Nicholas would take to the track with ten minutes completed using the medium
tyre. Nicholas would set a 1m:20.119 to be seventh dropping to eighth. This
would become 11th but with a 1m:19.743 he would improve to be 10th. Nicholas
would pit after a eight lap run. Nicholas would also return for his soft
tyre run. But his run would be ruined by a red flag coming from a crash
involving Norris. With the restart he would return still on the soft tyre.
He would set a 1m:18.983 to be 16th, dropping to 18th as others went
quicker. Nicholas would pit after a four lap run remaining in 18th. Nicholas
would return on a set of medium tyres for what would be a longer run.
Nicholas would only complete six laps when he had to pit with a red flag.
With the restart Nicholas would again come out still on the medium tyre. He
would switch to the soft tyre for a longer run. He would finish the session
having completed five laps on the soft tyre. |
