Team Summary:
The opening Friday practice session for the 2020 Belgian GP would see several drivers taking to the track including both Haas cars and the Alfa Romeo's. Both Williams drivers would complete single lap install runs both on the hard tyre. Leclerc would set a 1m:47.033 but was the only drivers so far to record a time with ten minutes of the session completed. Twenty minutes into the session and Verstappen would set a 1m:45.886 to move ahead of Leclerc. But Norris was now second but was using the medium tyre. Both Renault's and Mercedes were running while both Williams were still in the pits. Both both Williams cars would return with both on the soft tyre. Hamilton was now second followed by Bottas and Norris. Perez was now fourth with a 1m:46.498 using the soft tyre. Stroll would move into third ahead of Perez both on the soft tyre. Fifth was now Hamilton followed by Norris, Kvyat, Gasly, Albon, and Ricciardo tenth. But the order would change with Hamilton going fastest with a 1m:45.298 followed by Verstappen, Bottas, Stroll, Perez, Norris, Kvyat, Gasly, Albon, and Ricciardo tenth. With the opening forty minutes completed all the drivers would pit to return this set of tyres to Pirelli.

With forty minutes remaining Norris would be the first driver back out. He would be joined by Sainz with both on the soft tyre. Norris would go quickest with a 1m:45.274 only to see Sainz move ahead with a 1m:45.222. Both Williams drivers would return with the pair running a split tyre strategy with one on the hard the other the medium. On the soft tyre Albon was quickest with a 1m:45.075 also on the soft tyre. Bottas was next quickest with a 1m:44.493 followed by Hamilton both on the soft tyre. Both Haas cars were out of the session with engine related issues. Perez was now third from Stroll and Albon with all on the soft tyre tyre for their next runs. Verstappen would move into third behind the Mercedes cars. The order was Bottas, Hamilton, Verstappen, Perez, Stroll, Albon, Ocon, Sainz, Ricciardo and Norris in tenth.

Drivers would be on their final runs as the session drew to a close. Both Williams were back out again splitting their tyre evaluations with Nicholas on the medium and George the hard. The Williams drivers were 16thand 17th and slowest of those cars that had set time. With the sessions end they would remain in those positions while the top ten would remain the same. Overall a productive session for the Williams Racing Team but their predictions regarding their pace at this track may be correct.

George Russell:
George would follow his team-mate out also using the hard tyre for his first run. With twenty five minutes completed George would return running on the soft tyre. George would set a 1m:48.352 to be 11th dropping to 14th. George was also assessing his aero with flow viz on the rear wing. He would improve to be 13th with a 1m:47.509. George would say that the brakes were not feeling overly good ... balance feels average at the moment just struggling to get the tyres working. He would drop to 15th. he would improve with a 1m:47.056 to again be 13th. George would pit after a seven lap run. George would return but was on the hard tyre. George on the hard tyre would set a 1m:46.570 to now be 14th. This would become 16th as he pitted after a seven lap hard tyre run. With under ten minutes remaining he would return again on the hard tyre. George would pit after a five lap run as the session ended.

Nichols Latifi:
Nicholas would be first out for Williams for his installation lap using the hard tyre. Nicholas would be running with flow viz on his rear wing. Nicholas was also back out for a soft tyre run. Nicholas would set a 1m:50.373 on his first lap. He would be right behind his team-mate. Nicholas would improve with a 1m:47.973 to be 17th and slowest. He would improve with a 1m:47.355 and would also pit after a seven lap soft tyre run. Nicholas would return this time on the medium tyre. Nicholas would set a 1m:47.053 using the medium tyre. But he would find more time with a 1m:46.488 to move ahead of his team-mate to be currently 15th. Nicholas would also pit after a seven lap run. He would return for a final medium tyre run as the session drew to a close. He would pit with a quick four lap run as the session ended.
