Team Summary:
For the Williams Martini team the big question was whether they could lift themselves from the last row of the grid after been slowest in the final practice session. Both Williams cars were out very early in the opening 18 minute period with both using the ultrasoft tyre and would be first and second briefly. The Ferrari's were on the supersoft tyre while it would be Hamilton who would go quickest with a 1m:04.294 followed now by Vettel, Bottas, and Raikkonen. Leclerc was now fifth followed by Gasly and Perez. After short runs both Williams drivers would pit as Bottas went quickest with a 1m:04.175. Grosjean and Magnussen were fifth and sixth.

The Williams drivers had dropped to 17th and 18th and weer out of qualifying unless they could improve. Hamilton was again quickest with a 1m:04.080 while Verstappen went fourth. Both Williams drivers would return for their second runs. They would be 14th and 17th after their runs with Sergey ahead of his team-mate. Grosjean was now sixth followed by Ricciardo, Magnussen, Leclerc and Hulkenberg tenth. Grosjean was now in fourth while team-mate Magnussen was seventh. For Williams one driver was able to make it into Q2 while the other would finish in 18th.

With a Williams in the second fifteen minute period cars would start to come out with both Mercedes cars on the supersoft tyre. Bottas would go quickest with a 1m:03.756 but Hamilton would go quicker with a 1m:03.577. Vettel and Raikkonen were third and fourth. Verstappen was now fifth also on the supersoft tyre. Grosjean and Magnussen were sixth and seventh. Sainz was now eighth followed by Ricciardo and Gasly. Ricciardo was on the supersoft tyre. Drivers would return for their second runs and it would see Vettel quickest with a 1m:03.544 from Hamilton, Bottas, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Grosjean, Magnussen, Ricciardo, Sainz and Hulkenberg in tenth.

The final period of qualifying would go through the normal two runs and the first run would see Bottas quickest from Hamilton, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Vettel, Sainz, and Hulkenberg. The Hass cars would only come out for a single flying lap. While all the drivers were returning to their pits Raikkonen would stay out and would finish in second. Grosjean was now in fourth after his run. After their second runs Bottas would remain on pole with a 1m:03.130 followed now by Hamilton, Vettel, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Grosjean, Ricciardo, Magnussen, Sainz and Hulkenberg tenth. For Williams their qualifying saw them 15th and 18th. But with Leclerc gaining a five place grid penalty due to a gearbox change they would start from 14th and 17th.

Lance Stroll:
Lance would take to the track for the opening period running on new ultrasoft tyre. Lance would be second with a time of 1m:05.630. He would drop very quickly to be tenth. Like his team-mate lance would also drop down the times now 19th with nine minutes remaining. Lance's second run would see him improve with a 1m:05.403 to be 18th. He would also come back out on a new set of ultrasoft tyres. Lance would set a 1m:05.264 to be 15th. Lance was back out on ultrasoft tyres and would set a 1m:05.726 to be 13th. He would drop to 15th with six minutes remaining. Lance would pit and would come back out on new ultrasoft tyres for a second run. But he was not able to move up from 15th even with a 1m:05.286.

Sergey Sirotkin:
Sergey would follow his team-mate out also on teh ultrasoft tyre. He would set a 1m:05.598 to be quickest. He would also drop down the times to be ninth. This would become 17th as he was in his pit. Upon his return for his second run Sergey would set a 1m:05.322 to move up to 14th. Sergey would pit again and while in his pit he would drop to 16th. But he would again come out on another set of ultrasoft tyres. Sergey was on an improved lap setting personal best in sector one but he was not able to improve finishing in 18th.
